KIT KITTLE'S BIO
Kit Kittle is an award winning photographer and commercial director.

Best known for his portrait and editorial photography, Kittle's work is in many ways all over the map. He has accumulated thousands of credits in major publications and has produced and directed films on four continents.

A Manhattan native, Kittle processed his first film and made his first contact prints in fourth grade. At age 13, he became a certified scuba diver. As a teenager, Kittle worked as a page in the U.S. Senate, an intern in the U.S. House of Representatives, and taught school in Sikkim in the Eastern Himalayas and in Kayenta, Arizona, on the Navajo reservation. In his junior year, Kittle studied philosophy and Sanskrit at Benares Hindu University in India and had traveled around the world twice before graduating from Kenyon College in 1978, where he majored in religion.

After a stint as a surveyor's assistant in the Alaskan arctic, Kittle returned to New York and landed his first photo job for Air India. His India photos were then published by The Philadelphia Museum of Art in 1980, and soon after in Time Magazine. Throughout the eighties, Kittle worked as a photojournalist specializing in adventure travel, and did scores of assignments for the New York Times. His 1985 book ROUGHNECKS was described by People magazine as "profiles full of pungent, unexpected pleasure and insight."

Over time, Kittle worked increasingly on advertising and PR photography for a diverse clientele. In 1991, he produced and directed his first 35mm travel film for the Government of Bonaire, a former still photography client. Soon after, Kittle directed the second unit for a feature film shot in Ireland, and then produced and directed a travel film for the Irish Tourist Board.

Kittle founded Roundtrip Productions in 1993. In addition to travel films, Roundtrip has produced dozens of TV commercials for clients ranging from financial institutions to sports companies to government tourist boards. Roundtrip has also produced videos for law firms, record companies, dive resorts and a blimp company. Kittle has also worked as loan-out director for other commercial production companies in the U.S. and Canada.

Notable jobs include: the creation of a 1500-image photo library for The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism; 6 weeks in Antarctica for Life magazine; and a 23 day motion-picture shoot across 6,000 miles of China for the China National Tourism Organization.

To accommodate his growing needs for a larger and more efficient shooting space for both his photography and film clients, Kittle has recently moved his studio into southern Westchester County. He has continued to work on both commercial film and photography projects on location. In 2004 these included: still shoots in Jamaica and on a trans-Atlantic crossing of the Queen Mary 2; a video shoot for a dive resort in Bonaire; and directing Gov. George Pataki for the I Love New York commercials.

Kittle is married to Laurette Angsten, a home furnishings designer. They live in Connecticut with their two teenage sons. view
